"Its Complicated"

Yep, this is the 2nd time a movie inspired me to find a recipe for something that looked just too yummy to NOT make!  The first one was the movie "Chocolat" , in the movie there is a woman who makes this hot chocolate that is so thick it just looks soooo good! So I went on a search and found an awesome recipe and oh my its so yummy!
Rich and Tasty Hot Chocolate - Johnny Depp 's Favorite ( another good reason to make it maybe he'll come visit! ha!)
1 1/2 Tbls unsweeted chocolate powder  I prefer Ghirardelli
3 Tbls sugar
mix this with 1 1/2 Tbls boiling water
add 1 tsp vanilla ( home made 1 vanilla bean 1 cup water 1 cup vodka soak 2 months, shake
                                 occasionally)

add to the powder, sugar , water and vanilla
3/4 cup of hot milk which has been heated till bubbles form.
then add 2 tables heavy cream.
oh my......yes....its so good...

Anyhow the other night I watched the movie "its complicated" AGAIN. If you haven't seen it, pretty good movie. During the movie Meryl Streep makes Steve Martisome Chocolate Croissants.  Its fun watching the process of her making them but then when Steve bites into one you KNOW you've GOT to have one!  Course I could of gone to buy one but decided I wanted to go through that process of making them so I did! Great IDEA too!
So if you'd like to make some set aside a few hours because they aren't doughboy style!

Croissants filled with Chocolate - can you say mmm?

take 1/4 cup of warm water and add 1 1/2 tsp of yeast let sit for 5 minutes until dissolved.
while your waiting add to a mixing bowl:
2 1/4 cups flour
2 tbs dry milk powder
1 tbs sugar
1/2 tsp salt
2 Tbs softened butter
make a well in the center of this mixture an add the yeast mixture to it, stir a small amount of this until its thickened and let rest for 20 minutes.

While this is setting take a stick of unsalted butter and place it between 2 sheets of waxed paper - use your rolling pin to make this a 3x5 rectangle then place in refrigerator.

I use my Kitchen Aide mixer with bread hook now and add
1/2 cup of warm water to the flour and yeast mixture and stir till all is incorporated.

sprinkle flour on a bread board and roll out the dough to a 8 x 12 rectangle.
take the butter out of the fridge and place it on one 1/2 of the rectangle fold the other half of the dough over on top and pinch dough on edges to seal together. Cover loosely with plastic wrap and place in the fridge for 20 minutes.

Now roll the dough out to a 6 x 14 rectangle , then fold in 3rds and cover again and put in fridge for another 20 minutes.

Now roll the dough out ( with the fold side facing you) to a 6 x 14 rectangle , then fold in 3rds and cover again and put in fridge for another 20 minutes. ( nope I didn't just make a mistake I really want you to do that again )

Now roll the dough out ( with the fold side facing you) to a 6 x 14 rectangle , then fold in 3rds and cover again and put in fridge this time for 3o minutes.

Now this time roll the dough out 12x 24 at this point I made this into 2 - 6 x 24 strips and made each strip into triangles.

Take a egg yolk and mix it with a tbl of milk and brush on the edges of the triangles.
place your choice of chocolate on the thick end of the triangle ( I used one rectangle of a hershey bar and I broke up a dark chocolate bar and added about a 1/2 "piece of that to it)
roll up the dough thick end to thin end and add to a greased cookie sheet, cover when done with a plastic wrap and let rise for 30 -40 minutes brush the remaining egg wash on croissants and bake at 400 for 15 minutes.

TASTE !
Ready in 4 hours....but so worth it!
